After the Nazis came to power in 1933, dismissals also began among the technical staff of the Dresden State Theaters, though they can only be partially reconstructed today. Furthermore, many technicians worked at both the Staatsschauspiel and the Semperoper. Research from other theaters shows, however, that most dismissals in 1933 were politically motivated, and vacant positions were often filled with Nazi Party members.
The carpenter Willy Raffelt was born on November 11, 1907, in Rochwitz. He was dismissed on March 30, 1933, and died by suicide on November 21, 1937, the reasons for which remain unknown.
