Born on July 22, 1865, in Breslau (present-day Wrocław), the ear, nose, and throat physician had his practice at Colonnaden 21–23 in Hamburg, near the Stadttheater. Beginning in 1921, he served as the theater’s doctor while continuing his regular practice. After being let go from the Stadttheater in spring of 1933, he fled to Holland in February of 1939, first to his brother in Zandvoort and then to his son in Hilversum. Richard Sachs died on December 26, 1941, just weeks before the deportations of the Jewish population in the Netherlands began.
